Issues Advocacy: Abortion Rights

“There aren’t ‘women who have abortions’ and ‘women who have babies’
Those are the same women at different points in their lives.”

Rachel Atkins, PA, MPH, Exec. Dir. VWHC

Mabel Wadsworth Women’s Health Center believes that all women should have the right to choose and receive abortion care services under safe, supportive, legal, dignified and affordable conditions. The decisions about the most intimate and natural events of a woman’s life directly affect her lifestyle, education, family and career opportunities as well as society as a whole.

Mabel Wadsworth Women’s Health Center is committed to the following:

  • Provide high quality abortion care services
  • Increase access to abortion by providing assistance with funding, training medical providers in rural areas and reaching out to connect with women in rural parts of our state
  • Reduce stigma about abortion and women who have them
  • Educate other medical providers about providing compassionate and quality abortion care services
  • Protect staff and patients from the intimidation and violence of those who oppose abortion
  • Support legislation that expands abortion rights and oppose laws that limit them
  • Demand that abortion be recognized as medical care and not singled out as a marginalized service, continuously threatened by ideology and politics
  • Avoid restrictive monies that could result in political pressure that could restrict women’s choices in reproductive and sexual health
  • Advocate that communities throughout our nation strive to provide safe, legal, affordable and supportive abortion care services.

Mabel Wadsworth Center actively engages in education and issues advocacy around abortion – speaking from the frontlines for what women want, need and deserve in order to live self-fulfilling, productive and healthy lives. Informed decision-making is the key to good decision-making. No one is better able to make decisions for a woman about her health than that woman herself, fully informed and empowered to take charge of her own health care and sexual life.

Don’t let anyone take away your choices.
